ah!! the part where I have to type dosinst, I keep on getting z:\> instead of the C.... what do i do?!

Hi, It sounds like the commands didn't save in the config file. Go back to the config file and see if the commands in the guide are in the [autoexec] section.

Best,
Glenn

Did the config file appear at all after you entered the command or are you just having trouble opening it?

Hey, I have Windows 7, and I'm using DosBox 0.72. Anyways, I can't get past the "dosinst" because it says the C: isn't there. I can't find the solution.

Using Windows 7, at first I was confused.. but after following the instructions it worked perfectly. Thanks very much :D

I entered this
mount c c:\games\princess2
c:
cd pm2

under [autoexec]
but the dosbox says like this

Z:\>mount c c:\games\princess2
Drive C is mounted as local directory c:\games\princess2\

Z:\>c:

C:\>cd pm2
unable to change to: pm2.

c:\>

What should i do now ? :s

When I installed the game, it loaded up and said: Unable to locate file LIBINDEX.DIR. What should I do?

Anonymous said...

It was working just fine, but then when I exited the game and tried to go back in clicking on dosbox it will not automatically open the game. Instead it says 'illegal command pm2'

how the heck do I play the game again? I could only play it once and now i can't get back into it

I seem to have a completely different problem. I can open the game just fine, simply by double-clicking the .exe file. However, when it opens, all I see is a black screen and nothing else. It doesn't do anything. I tried all the steps in your guide, but that didn't help. Help, please?

Anonymous said...

Never mind. I managed to fix my problem by simply typing the commands in Dosbox manually. (By the way, I was the Anon who got a black screen.)

Good walkthrough, I had a few issues but as I am on a 64 bit system and dosbox is still 32 that is well expected. Gt the game running, I have a slight sound issue but I can live without sound so installing it with no sound worked ok.

OMG I love you. I used to play PM2 all the time years ago and have been wanting to play again. I've been trying to get it to run on my laptop through Windows 7 and it was driving me crazy. This guide was very thorough, easy to follow and worked like a charm. Thank you!

HELP! It says that 'Drive C' doesn't exist when I try to type in the 'mount' thing. Also, it still is on Z:\> and it says 'dosinst' is an illegal command!

Anonymous said...

To fix this

Z:\>mount c c:\games\princess2
Drive C is mounted as local directory c:\games\princess2\

Z:\>c:

C:\>cd pm2
unable to change to: pm2.

DELETE THE PM2 files inside the dosbox folder ( the "princess2" folder)

Now you must extract or copy paste the pm2 folder into the princess2 folder

Btw pm2 is the short name of princess maker 2 hAHAHA

Anonymous said...

YES i succesfull fixed it

Z:\>c:

C:\>cd pm2
unable to change to: pm2.

c:\>

What should i do now ? :s

I will delete the PM2 files inside the princess2 folder.
AND THEN EXTRACT or copy paste the pm2 folder, that you download from this website.
