First Download the Free Game The Lion King:
Choose from one of the following sites.
Abandonia : Download Game : Download Instructions
XTC Abandonware : Download Game : Download InstructionsMr Old Games : Download Game : Download InstructionsThe House of Games : Download Game : Download InstructionsNext Download & Install the Emulator Dosbox on Windows:
Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)
Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your hard drive in the directory C:\Games\Lionking. Simply entering this will create these folders for you.
Next: Open the Games folder then the Lionking folder within it. Locate and then run Dosbox by double clicking on the Dosbox program icon.
Next: At the the command prompt in Dosbox type "config -writeconf dosbox.conf" and then press the "Enter" key.
Next: Type "exit" to exit Dosbox.
Now: Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.
Finally: With the dosbox config file open scroll to the bottom. We are going to place some text below [autoexec]:
mount c c:\games\lionking
c:
cd lionking
lionking
Save and exit the config file when you are finished.
Now Lets Extract The Lion King Free Game Download:
First: Right click on the Lion King game file you downloaded to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".
Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to save the extracted Lion King files, select "C:\Games\Lionking" . When you're done click "Next" again and the Lion King files will begin to extract.
King of the Jungle:
Double click on the Dosbox program in the "C:\Games\Lionking" folder and the game The Lion King will launch, enjoy!

Hi, i followed you instructions completly but when i launch the game it asks "to enter the first word on page 7 line 3". ANd if i dont it just keeps giving me previews of the game. What do i dooo?!?

Hi just press enter when it comes up. This part has been deactivated in the game.

Hi you who had problems with starting the game. Did you press 'enter' in the main menu? Try pressing 'space' instead. That worked for me.

Thanks for this, but is there anyway to save the game? Everytime I die, I start at the very beginning of the very first level.
Hi I just double checked but it seems there isn't any kind of save function. It may run similar to Mario Bros for the NES in that when you run out of lives the game ends.

maaaan?.... i think we all appreciate the good games and the involvment you put here man. titles like Police Quest 3, King's quest those will never be forgotten. but this lion king right here?.. it's not quite working, MAAAAAN.... so i read the walkthru - at the 2nd lvl you got to roar at some pink monkeys and they supposed to react. and act like some kind of switches. well it just doesn't happen d00d. me thinks it's because of ze fuXed copy prot? anyway maaaan.. you like lord of the rings?.. o.O my respeKt 4 u is shakin dewd

Hi you can use any free or trial zip program to do this as well such as WinZip. You can find these programs at sites like download.com .

Hi the file you downloaded from XTC Abandonware is the one you want to use it on. The Dosbox file will install on its own.

I did everything as stated but when I get to the extracting of the actual folder for the game, it says that there is nothing to extract. Please help
Did you download the game from XTC Abandonware or a different site? You can use a program like Winzip if the Windows Zip program is having trouble also and see if that helps.

well, when I open dosbox, apears a black screen whit "z:>" and i dont know what to write. I've tried to write those words that u have on the instructions, but it doesn't happend anything.

Hi the commands below will need to be saved in the config file for the game to run. You can just copy and paste them in the section [autoexec]

Is disgusting, INSTALL AND CAN NOT BE YOUR FAULT FOR ALMOST spoiled my PC, are fools they can not explain well, better FENCE explain how a CD is inserted just described HOW AND AFTER THE GAME IS INSTALLED Lionking.

I have used your instructions before and had no problems. but i recently wiped my computer and loaded windows 7 and now i cannot save the CONF file. it just says access denied. i am running in admin mode so i dont know what to do. what can i do?
Hi Hannah, did you try both methods for running in admin (also righting clicking Dosbox and giving permission to the file). Sometimes it doesn't work with the global setting alone until you use this second method:

Hi! I just installed it and everything is working great except for the controls... The up and down keys are going crazy and never stop... I can't do anything... It's working but i can't play. Any solutions on this problem? I just want to make the keys work properly. Thanks...

I have a problem.
After the "first word on page 4 line 6" there appears "disney's and virgin (all that)" and then the screens goes black and does nothing.
i followed ur instructions but after it asked me to type 4th letter of a word or something i just wrote something and it accepted but after i see the disney logo and the virgin something it gets stuck
Hey! Dunno if this is a problem with my keyboard or something, but i seem to have problems making a running jump while playing the game. I can only stand still and jump while hanging on to the directional key, and this makes simba's jump reallly short...does anyone else have this problem?
