Hey dude, thanks a lot for this guide. I wanted to play Aladdin and Lion King after many years but the downloaded game wouldn't work satisfactorily. I saw this guide of yours and the two games work really well with your guide. The site, Abandonia, is also a great one. Once again, thanks! :)

Thanks Sidd those games bring back a lot of memories from when I was younger. Have fun with the games!

Hey Glenn, I've played (and completed) a few games. But, can you please name some games like Alladin, Lion King? Those sort of games, which are similar to these games as I enjoy these type of games. Basically, if you can, please name some games like the above.

Are you looking for good platform games in general or just good ones that are from Disney? There are a ton of great vintage platformers out there but many are on console systems. Some include Mario Bros 1 2 and 3, Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country series etc. Disney has a lot of great ones too such as Darkwing Duck, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers and Duck Tales 1 and 2 just to name a few also.

Best,
Glenn

Most of the games you mentioned need some emulator. Can you name a few PC games like Aladdin and Lion King? Games which aren't very intense and like the above have stages to defeat enemies and that sort.

Hi Sidd, if you are looking for ones for the computer check out the platform games list in the games by genre section on the sidebar. All of these games have a similar style of play and are available for download online.

Glenn

There are some great game play hint sites out there that can help you defeat the final boss like GameFaqs. I'm glad you have it working, enjoy playing Aladdin again!

Hey! Thanks for the guide! Unfortunately I'm not able to get it to work, maybe you can help me? I don't know if it's because I run Windows 7? Or I'm using ExtractNow to extract the game files? any help would be much appreciated as I really miss the games of my childhood :)

Glenn Scrima said...

Hi Stinna, are you stuck trying to extract the game or is Dosbox having trouble loading it? Also are you using a file from XTC or The House of Games?

Best,
Glenn

Stinna said...

I am using the file from The House of Games. I have done exactly what the guide describes but when I try this: "Double click on the Dosbox program in the folder "C:\Games\Aladdin" and the game Aladdin will launch" nothing happens. Dosbox just opens as if I'm to write something like earlier in the guide.

Glenn Scrima said...

Hi Stinna, what does it say in Dosbox above the C:\ or Z:\ prompt. Does it say the C:\ drive mounted correctly or do any errors come up in Dosbox above the C:\ or Z:\ prompt?

Best,
Glenn

Stinna said...

Hi Glenn, as far as I can tell there are no errors. I doubleclick the dosbox programfile in the Aladdin folder. Then two windows pop ud - a dosbox status window and the DOSbox 0.73 window. In the latter there appears a welcome to dosbox window. Underneath it says Z:\>SET BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 H5 T6

Glenn Scrima said...

If nothing shows up but also no errors then it sounds like the mount commands didn't save in the config file. I would head back to the [autoexec] section of the config file and see if they are there and saved correctly.

Best,
Glenn

I really loved the Aladdin PC game when I was young. I just installed and played it again - and behold, I could still finish the game in one go! (on Easy mode though).

Thanks!
