First Download Police Quest:
Choose from one of the following sites.
Abandonia : Download : Download Instructions
XTC Abandonware : Download : Download Instructions
Home of the Underdogs : Download : Download Instructions
Next Download & Install the Emulator Dosbox on Windows XP or Windows Vista:
Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)
Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your hard drive in the directory C:\Games\PQuest1. Simply entering this will create these folders for you.
Next: Open the Games folder then the PQuest1 folder within it. Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.
Finally: With the dosbox config file open scroll to the bottom. We are going to place some text below [autoexec]:
mount c c:\games\pquest1
c:
cd pq
sierra
Save and exit the config file when you are finished.
Now Lets Extract The Game File:
First: Right click on the game file you saved to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".
Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to save the extracted files, select "C:\Games\PQuest1" . When you're done click "Next" again and the files will begin to extract.
In Hot Pursuit:
Double click on the Dosbox program in the "C:\Games\PQuest1" folder and the game Police Quest will launch, enjoy!

hey how do you save your game. i created a folder in windows under the c:\ but when i try to save in police quest it says the dir doesn't exist.

I'm running vista 32bit
Hi Ryan, this sounds like an issue some visitors have experienced with Vista. Since Vista has tightened the security over XP it doesn't let you write directly to the C:\ drive in the way you could before. I have a guide on how to fix this (see below). I would try both methods mentioned if the first doesn't work as one or the other usually works for visitors but sometimes not both.
