First Download The Free Game Tyrian 2000:
Choose from one of the following sites.
Abandonia : Download Game : Download Instructions

Mr Old Games : Download Game : Download InstructionsThe House of Games : Download Game : Download InstructionsNext Download & Install the Emulator Dosbox on Windows:
Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)
Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your hard drive in the directory C:\Games\Ty2000. Simply entering this will create these folders for you.
Next: Open the Games folder then the Ty2000 folder within it. Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.
Finally: Copy and paste the following text in the section of the dosbox config file labeled [autoexec]:
mount c c:\games\ty2000
c:
cd tyrian~1
tyrian2k
Save and exit the config file when you are finished.
Now Lets Extract The Tyrian 2000 Free Game Download:
First: Right click on the Tyrian 2000 game file you downloaded to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".
Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to extract the Tyrian 2000 files, select "C:\Games\Ty2000". When you're done click "Next" again and the Tyrian 2000 files will begin to extract.
Lets Play!:
Double click on the Dosbox program in the "C:\Games\Ty2000" folder and the game Tyrian 2000 will launch, enjoy!

The "open with" option does not appear for me. Any ways to make it appear, or any alternatives?
after i do all the same steps in the guide, i got runtime error
i've carefully followed your guide step by step, but Dosbox tells me it is "unable to change to: tyrian~1".

i downloaded it from Abandonia
my Dos says "unable to change to: tyrian~1." and then "Illegal command: tyrian2k." What am i supposed to do now?
It sounds like the abandonia files didn't extract correctly. Dosbox is looking for a folder when it comes up with "unable to change to: tyrian~1" line means which it can't find that folder. I would try extracting the abandonia zip file another time. Are you using a third party extractor or the one built into Windows?

Everything worked great! Though the gameplay is ridiculously fast. The game and sound is perfect until I start the levels. Then it speeds up so fast I don't have any time to react. Even the music is at a faster than normal speed. Just crazy fast.
Hi, In the config file scroll to the section titled [cpu]. In this section find the command "cycles=auto"and change it to a number such as "cycles=2000". You can raise or lower the number if it runs to fast or to slow on your pc.

I have followed the directions step by step, but when I open Dosbox after extracting the files it opens just as it did before the files were extracted. Any suggestions?
Hi everything works great aside from the sound for weapons is missing, the only sound actually is the menu sounds and the music, I looked in the settings and made sure that everything was set to max so the sound seems to be missing in the code
also a fix to the issue of the game being too fast is in settings, press esc during play, and there will be an option for game speed.
About the sound problem ! You have to run setup.exe in tyrian folder under DOSBox. In the setup change the "Sound effects" option to "Soundblaster" and it should work.
Hey, I can't find the dosbox config file. My folder doesn't look the the picture you took in the ty2000 folder.
