Next Download & Install the Emulator Dosbox on Windows:

Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)


Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your hard drive in the directory C:\Games\Blood. Simply entering this will create these folders for you.



Next: Open the Games folder then the Blood folder within it. Locate and then run Dosbox by double clicking on the Dosbox program icon.


Next: At the the command prompt in Dosbox type "config -writeconf dosbox.conf" and then press the "Enter" key.


Next: Type "exit" to exit Dosbox.


Now: Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.


Finally: With the dosbox config file open scroll to the bottom. We are going to place some text below [autoexec]:

mount c c:\games\blood
c:


Save and exit the config file when you are finished.


Now Lets Download the Free Game Blood:

Go To: http://abandonia.com

Next: Type "Blood" in the game search box in the upper right corner of the main page and press enter.

After That: Click on "Blood" in the game search results column.


Next: On the page that follows click on the "Get It!" button.


Finally: Click on the "Get It" button on following page and wait for your browser to give you the option to download and save the file. Click the "Save" button and choose a directory on your hard drive where you would like to save the zip file. Saving to your desktop is usually the default option and is probably the easiest place to save the file for extraction.



Now Lets Extract the Blood Free Game Download:

First: Right click on the Blood game file you downloaded to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".


Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to save the extracted files, select "C:\Games\Blood". When you're done click "Next" again and the files will begin to extract.



Now Lets Setup Blood:

First: Double click on the Dosbox program in the Blood folder. You will be launched into the program and brought to the C:\ prompt in Dos. Type "setup" and press enter.


Next: At the "Main Menu" screen select "Sound Setup" and press enter.


Now: At the "Sound Setup" screen select "Choose Sound FX Card" and press enter.


Next: At the "Choose Sound FX Card" screen select "Sound Blaster" and press enter.


Now: At the "Sound Blaster Configuration" enter then save the following settings.

Current Address [0x220]
Current Type (Sound Blaster 16 or AWE 32)
Current Interrupt [7]
Current 8-bit DMA [1]
Current 16-bit DMA [5]
8 Voices
16 Bit Mixing
Stereo Sound
Mixing Rate 22 Khz


Now: Back at the "Sound Setup" menu select "Choose Music Card" and press enter.


Next: In the "Choose Music Card" menu select "Sound Blaster" and press enter. You will be returned to the "Sound Setup" menu after doing this. Press "Esc" and this will return you to the main setup menu.


Now: Back at the "Main Menu" scroll to the "Screen Setup" option and press enter.


Next: At the "Screen Setup" menu scroll down to the setting "VESA modes (SVGA/VESA 2.0)" and press enter. The next screen will ask you to, "Choose a VESA 1.0/2.0 Mode", select "800x600" and press enter.


Finally: You will be returned to the "Main Menu" again. Scroll down to "Save and launch Blood" and press enter.



The Finishing Touch:

Although we have the game fully working at this point we still need to go back and quickly add another command in the dosbox config file. After you are finished playing the game for the first time exit the game and then exit Dosbox. This can be done by typing "exit" and pressing enter at the C:\> prompt.

Now head back to the Dosbox config file and scroll to the [autoexec] section again. Under the commands we have already added type "blood". It should look like this.


Save and exit the config file when you are finished.


There will be Blood:


Double click on the Dosbox program in the Blood folder and the game Blood will launch, have fun!
