First Download & Install Dosbox on Windows:
Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)
Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your hard drive in the directory C:\Games\AlienTrilogy. Simply entering this will create these folders for you.
Next: Open the Games folder then the AlienTrilogy folder within it. Locate and then run Dosbox by double clicking on the Dosbox program icon.
Next: At the the command prompt in Dosbox type "config -writeconf dosbox.conf" and then press the "Enter" key.

Next: Type "exit" to exit Dosbox.

Now: Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.

Finally: With the dosbox config file open scroll to the bottom. We are going to place some text below [autoexec]:
mount c c:\games\alientrilogy
c:
Save and exit the config file when you are finished.
Now Lets Download the Free Game Alien Trilogy:
Go To: http://abandonia.com
Next: Type "Alien Trilogy" in the game search box in the upper right corner of the main page and press enter.

After That: Click on "Alien Trilogy" in the game search results column.
Next: On the page that follows click on the "Get It!" button.

Finally: Click on the "Get It" button on following page and wait for your browser to give you the option to download and save the Alien Trilogy file. Click the "Save" button and choose a directory on your hard drive where you would like to save the game file. Saving to your desktop is usually the default option and is probably the easiest place to save the Alien Trilogy file for extraction.
Now Lets Extract the Alien Trilogy Free Game Download:
First: Right click on the Alien Trilogy game file you downloaded to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".
Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to extract the Alien Trilogy game files, select "C:\Games\AlienTrilogy". When you're done click "Next" again and the files will begin to extract.
Now Lets Setup the Game Alien Trilogy:
First: Double click on the Dosbox program in the AlienTrilogy folder. You will be launched into the program and brought to the C:\ prompt in Dos. Type "setsound" and press enter.
Next: At the "Current Sound Configuration" menu screen select "Select and configure digital audio driver" and press enter.
Now: At the "Available Digital Audio Drivers" menu screen select "Gravis Ultrasound" and press enter. It should tell you that the "Device [has been] Successfully Detected", press enter again.
Finally: Back at the "Sound Configuration Options" menu screen select "Done" and press enter. After this exit Dosbox, this can be done by typing "exit" and pressing enter at the C:\> prompt.
Although we have the game fully working at this point we still need to go back and quickly add another command in the dosbox config file. Head back to the Dosbox config file and scroll to the [autoexec] section again. Under the commands we have already added type "trilogy". It should look like this.
Save and exit the config file when you are finished.
Some Classic FPS Action:
Double click on the Dosbox program in the AlienTrilogy folder and the game Alien Trilogy will now launch, enjoy!
