First Download & Install Dosbox on Windows:
Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)
Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your hard drive in the directory C:\Games\AlienR. Simply entering this will create these folders for you.
Next: Open the Games folder then the AlienR folder within it. Locate and then run Dosbox by double clicking on the Dosbox program icon.
Next: At the the command prompt in Dosbox type "config -writeconf dosbox.conf" and then press the "Enter" key.

Next: Type "exit" to exit Dosbox.

Now: Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.
Finally: With the dosbox config file open scroll to the bottom. We are going to place some text below [autoexec]:
mount c c:\games\alienr
c:
cd alienram
Save and exit the config file when you are finished.
Now Lets Download the Game Alien Rampage:
Go To: http://abandonia.com
Next: Type "Alien Rampage" in the game search box in the upper right corner of the main page and press enter.

After That: Click on "Alien Rampage" in the game search results column.
Next: On the page that follows click on the "Get It!" button.

Finally: Click on the "Get It" button on following page and wait for your browser to give you the option to download and save the Alien Rampage game file. Click the "Save" button and choose a directory on your hard drive where you would like to save the Alien Rampage file. Saving to your desktop is usually the default option and is probably the easiest place to save the Alien Rampage game for extraction.
Now Lets Extract the Alien Rampage Game Download:
First: Right click on the Alien Rampage game file you downloaded to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".
Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to extract the Alien Rampage game files, select "C:\Games\AlienR". When your done click "Next" again and the Alien Rampage files will begin to extract.
Now Lets Install the Game Alien Rampage:
First: Open the AlienR folder within the Games folder and double click on the Dosbox program file.
Next: At the C:\> prompt type install and press enter.
Now: You will be launched into the installation program for the game. You will first be asked to choose where you would like to install the game, the default folder "C:\Rampage" is fine, press enter to begin installing in this folder.
Next: You will see a message letting you know you will need to setup your sound settings when you first run the game, press enter to continue.
Now: You will be launched into the game itself. Scroll down to the option labeled "Config" and press enter.
Next: Scroll to "Sounds" options and press enter. You will see a series of screens allowing you to choose various settings for your sound card. Below listed in order from top to bottom is each setting you will need to choose.
- "Effects Card" - AWE32 (Press Y for Yes on the next screen)
- "Interrupt" - IRQ 7
- "Port Address PG1" - Port 220
- "DMA Channel" - DMA Channel 1
- "Select Voices" - 8 Voices
- "Select Channels" - Stereo Sound FX
Finally: You will be brought back the the C:\> prompt. Type "exit" and then press enter to exit Dosbox.
One Last Finishing Touch:
We need to quickly head back to the Dosbox config file in the AlienR folder. Once there open it and again scroll down to the [autoexec] section. First we need to delete the command "cd alienram". Now below the command "c:" type "cd rampage". Press enter and on the next line type "rampage". The final result should look like this.

mount c c:\games\alienr
c:
cd rampage
rampage
Save and exit the config file when you are done.
Now double click on the Dosbox program in the AlienR folder and the game Alien Rampage will launch, have fun!
