First off, you are the man for all the work you've done on this; words simply can't begin. However, I did everthing you had written, but according to dosbox when i attempt to start the game I am told it is an "illegal command: startrek", how do I get around this problem?

Thanks :), I just tried to see if I could replicate this issue but it looks like Abandonia took their copy down. I'm going to try to update the guide asap but in the mean time which site did you download the game from?

Hi guys I just rewrote the guide as Abandonia seems to have taken their copy of the game down. It should work now and thankfully Home of the Underdogs has a copy.

Ok, so I downloaded all the files. Made the necessary changes to DoBox config file and I get this error:
No CD-ROM detected
Make sure that you run MSCDEX.EXE and that the correct CD-ROM device driver is present in your CONFIG.SYS file
Any help??

Nevermind that last post. After several hours dedicated to make this work, I found a torrent for Star Trek: 25th Anniversary at I downloaded the torrent and extracted the files and set-up exactly as you have on here and it works perfectly! Reccomend you update your directions to include a link to thepiratebay and with instructions on how to load a torrent. It's time consuming, but SO worth it! Live Long and Prosper!

Hi thanks for letting me know about this and I'm glad you got it working. When I wrote it Home of the Underdogs was run by different people and it had actually gone offline for a short time since then before it changed hands. I will try to get this updated in the next few days. Enjoy the game!

Running from floppy is quite easy, problems (with sound card compatibility) might occur running the enhanced CD-ROM version (with actors original voices). Anyway a good hint to run the game in both cases, is to simply install at your HD. Look for the run program file, right click on it, choose Properties/Compatibilty, Mark Windows 95 or 98/ME. No need of the DOSBox program. I usually choose for sound effects a "mostly sound blaster compatible" card, port 220, irq 5. If it does not word try variations of port and irq and even card type, until you find one that works.

I have to just tell everyone how grateful I am to find people who generously share their expertise, tips, tricks, etc. There are such amazing games available for the taking if only they can be tweaked to run under the newer OS's. There are lots of us out here who know just enough to screw up. There is nothing so comforting as a more experienced person who says: I had that problem and this is what I did to work through it. Thanks and god bless all you awesome people.
