Golden Axe Game Free Download & Install Guide

First Download & Install Dosbox on Windows XP or Windows Vista:

Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)

Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your C:\ drive when asked. Finally when finished rename your Dosbox folder "Golden".

Next: Open the Golden folder then locate and run Dosbox by double clicking on the Dosbox program icon.

Next: At the the command prompt in Dosbox type "config -writeconf dosbox.conf" and then press the "Enter" key.

Next: Type "exit" to exit Dosbox.

Now: Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.

Finally: With the dosbox config file open scroll to the bottom. We are going to place some text below [autoexec]:

mount c c:\golden
c:
gold

Now Lets Download the Free Game Golden Axe:

Go To: http://abandonia.com

Next: Type "Golden Axe" in the search box in the upper right corner of the main page and press enter.

After That: Click on "Golden Axe" in the game search results column.

Next: On the page that follows click on the "Get It!" button

Finally: Click on the "Get It" button on following page and wait for your browser to give you the option to download and save the file. Click the "Save" button and choose a directory on your hard drive where you would like to save the zip file. Saving to your desktop is usually the default option and is probably the easiest place to save the file for extraction.

Now Lets Extract the Golden Axe Free Game Download:

First: Right click on the Golden Axe game file you downloaded to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".

Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to save the extracted folder, select "C:\Golden". After you've chosen this directory on your hard drive click "Next" again and the files will begin to extract.

It's Play Time!:

First: Double click on the Dosbox program in the "Golden" folder and the game will now launch.

Next: You will see a list to choose from. These are the various modes you can run the game in that dictate screen resolution and amount of colors. Choose "VGA" which is the best option on the list by pressing "4".

Now: The game will launch in VGA mode. After pressing the spacebar key you will see a screen asking for a "Password Entry". Type in anything and press enter, this will bypass this screen.
