DUNE (or others)
1. how do I run it in a 'smaller' window?
2. how do I eliminate having to watch the into screens everytime I play?

Hi Ed, if you want to play Dune in a window you will need to edit the Dosbox config file. Make sure the line in it reads fullscreen=false instead of fullscreen=true.

As for the intro my best guess would be trying to hit the esc key, spacebar or enter key if the game allows this part to be skipped.

Best,
Glenn

i swear ive done everything else right, can i please get some help?

Glenn Scrima said...

Hi it sounds like the drives didn't mount correctly. When Dosbox launches what does it say above C:\>. Also make sure you change the Dosbox folder name to Dune.

Best,
Glenn

IS THERE ANY WAY TO RUN DUNE WITH MAC OS

Glenn Scrima said...

Hi yes there is. Its a different process than for a for the PC though. I'm hoping to add more Mac OS X guides if there is an interest for them. I'll keep this one in mind for my next one.

It doesn't let me save the fucking conf file, why? Keeps repeating the same bullshit.

"cannot create fag file blah blah"
I try to save over the old file and then it says the exact same thing again.

Hi!

I am trying to use the DuneCD version with voices, follwing the same instructions but it doesn't runs with dosbox anybody can help me to solve it?

thanks very much

Hi the install process will be different because you are using your CD-ROM instead of your hard drive. I don't have a copy of the game on CD unfortunately but I have a guide that should help with installing it.

Heya Glenn, thanks for taking time to answer all of these for so long, my question:

Currently using 64x Windows 7, when it comes to installing the Dune game I double click on the Install file it comes up with error message saying version of file is not compatible with my version of windows, so is there a way of getting around this?

Hi Glenn,
Thank you very much for your tutorial, it is very clear and helped me a lot! But I still have a problem and I hope that I'm not the only one:

I installed Dune and had no problem at all, it runs smoothly, at a normal speed and with all the sounds, it runs great indeed, but sometimes it crashes and I have no idea why, the game suddenly "disappears" and I get back to the DOS box (C:\), sometimes it happens every 20 minutes, sometimes every hour, and sometimes every 10 minutes, it's very frustrating because I keep losing my progress and I have to go to the palace very frequenly to save the game and prevent that I lose very much progress.

I use Windows 8, I have 8GB RAM and an i7 processor. So what's the problem? Please help

Thank you
Macarena
