Death Gate Game Free Download & Install Guide

First Download & Install Dosbox on Windows:




Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)


Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your C:\ drive when asked. Finally when finished rename your Dosbox folder "Deathgate".



Next: Open the Games folder then the DeathGate folder within it. Locate and then run Dosbox by double clicking on the Dosbox program icon.


Next: At the the command prompt in Dosbox type "config -writeconf dosbox.conf" and then press the "Enter" key.


Next: Type "exit" to exit Dosbox.


Now: Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.


Finally: With the dosbox config file open scroll to the bottom. We are going to place some text below [autoexec]:

mount c c:\deathgate
c:
cd dgate



Now Lets Download the Free Death Gate Game:

Go To: http://abandonia.com

Next: Type "Death Gate" in the game search box in the upper right corner of the main page and press enter.


After That: Click on "Death Gate" in the game search results column.


Next: On the page that follows click on the "Get It!" button.


Finally: Click on the "Get It" button on following page and wait for your browser to give you the option to download and save the file. Click the "Save" button and choose a directory on your hard drive where you would like to save the zip file. Saving to your desktop is usually the default option and is probably the easiest place to save the file for extraction.



Now Lets Extract the Death Gate Fee Game Download:

First: Right click on the Death Gate game file you downloaded to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".


Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to save the extracted folder, select "C:\Deathgate". After you've chosen this directory on your hard drive click "Next" again and the files will begin to extract.



Now Lets Install the Game Death Gate:

First: Double click on the Dosbox program file in the "C:\Deathgate" directory and Dosbox will launch. After Dosbox launches type "install" and press enter. You should now be launched into the Death Gate installation program.


Next: You will now see a screen letting you know you are in the install program, press enter to go to the main installation menu.


Now: You will see a menu labeled "Installation Options". Select "Change configuration options" and press enter.


Next: The first option will ask you about "XMouse" for now choose "Don't add XMouse. You can return to the installation program and change this setting if the mouse doesn't work properly for you.

Next: You will be asked on the next two screens to select your "Music Device" and "Digitized Sound". Choose "Sound Blaster 16" for each and press enter.

Now: Back at the main setup menu scroll down to "Exit installation program" and press enter. You will now be returned to DOS, type "exit" and press enter again, this will close Dosbox.


Now: We are going to head back to the dosbox config file to add another line of code. Again its in the [autoexec] section, this time below the commands we have already added. The command is "dgate". It should look like this.


Save and exit the config file when you are finished.


Ready to Play!:


Click on the Dosbox program in the "Deathgate" folder and the game Death Gate will now launch, enjoy!
