First Download & Install Dosbox on Windows:
Go To: http://www.dosbox.com > Downloads Tab > Click the Windows version (Under the Dosbox category)
Next: Run the downloaded installer file and install Dosbox on your C:\ drive when asked. Finally when finished rename your Dosbox folder "AI".
Next: Open the AI folder and locate and then run Dosbox by double clicking on the Dosbox program icon.
Next: At the the command prompt in Dosbox type "config -writeconf dosbox.conf" and then press the "Enter" key.

Next: Type "exit" to exit Dosbox.

Now: Locate and right click on the Dosbox config file. Click "open with" & select notepad.
Finally: With the dosbox config file open scroll to the bottom. We are going to place some text below [autoexec]:
mount c c:\ai
mount d c:\ai\ai -t cdrom
c:
cd ai
Now Lets Download the Game Alien Incident:
Go To: http://abandonia.com
Next: Type "Alien Incident" in the game search box in the upper right corner of the main page and press enter.

After That: Click on "Alien Incident" in the game search results column.
Finally: Click on the "Get It" button on following page and wait for your browser to give you the option to download and save the Alien Incident game file. Click the "Save" button and choose a directory on your hard drive where you would like to save the Alien Incident file. Saving to your desktop is usually the default option and is probably the easiest place to save the Alien Incident game for extraction.
Now Lets Extract the Alien Incident Game Download:
First: Right click on the Alien Incident game file you downloaded to your hard drive and click on "Extract All".
Then: Click the "Next" button when the extractor launches. You will be asked where you would like to extract the Alien Incident game files, select "C:\ai\ai". When your done click "Next" again and the Alien Incident files will begin to extract.
Now Lets Install Alien Incident:
First: Double click on the Dosbox program file in the "C:\AI" directory and Dosbox will launch. After Dosbox launches type "setup" and press enter. You should now be launched into the Alien Incident installation program.
Next: You will now see a setup screen with three options. Choose "Select Sound Card" and press enter.
Now: You will move through a series of 3 screens that will determine the settings for your sound card. Below are listed each setting you need to choose in the order the order they are given.
Select Sound Card: "Gravis UltraSound (GF1 Hardware Mixing)"
Select Sound Card I/O Port Address: "240h"
Select Output Rate: "16-bit Stereo"
When you have completed inputing these settings you will be returned to the C:\AI> prompt in Dosbox. Type "exit" and press enter, this will close Dosbox.
Now: We are going to head back to the dosbox config file to add another line of code. Again its in the [autoexec] section, this time below the commands we have already added. The command is "ai". It should look like this.
Save and exit the config file when you are finished.

Hi There
We installed it and it works but the speech is not working.
Also we have the cd version how do we install that version please?
thanks
Hi this may be the floppy disk version which would lack speech files and just use text instead.
Best,
Glenn
Thanks for the help with AI
Great Instructions
No problem Ron enjoy the game!
Best,
Glenn
For my XP system (service pack 3) the choice of "Autodetect Soundcard" worked nicely and was a lot simpler than the choice of "Select Sound card" (No fooling around required trying to figure out what the I/O port address and brands of speakers are!)
Hi Peter this option will often work but I just went the other route to make sure specifics were outlined. This was in case the autodetect didn't work on a persons system so they would have something to reference.
Best,
Glenn
cant seem to download alien incident from that site, the download fails.
Hi, their download server goes offline from time to time but is working now.
Best,
Glen
Two images that will make the maze a lot easier:

Windows 7 user here. Followed the instructions here and got a "sound device hardware failure" error (or something in that neighbourhood). Went back and commanded dosbox to autodetect the soundcard and the game works beautifully now. Thank you :-)
