First: Double click on the Dosbox program file in the "C:\Games\Abuse" directory and Dosbox will launch. After Dosbox launches type "setup" and press enter. You should now be launched into the Abuse installation program.

Now: We are going to head back to the dosbox config file to add another line of code. Again its in the [autoexec] section, this time below the commands we have already added. The command is "abuse". It should look like this.
[autoexec]

c:
cd abuse
abuse
Save and exit the config file when you are finished.

Dude can you help me?
I tried your method and it works fine on all my old dos games except Abuse. I get an error saying I got to delete all lchachexx.tmp files and have to make sure I have writing permission on my drive. Or something like that, it's Greek to me man! Thanks a million man.
Hi what operating system are you using. If you are being asked for permission to your hard drive it sounds like Vista. You need to be signed in as an administrator to allow it to work. The guide is designed for XP though so if you are using Vista I can't guarantee that it will work as I have yet to upgrade to Vista.
Best,
Glenn
Yeah I'm using Vista. All the other dosbox games run fine for me, it's just Abuse. I also tried it with Jeremy Scotts Windows remake but that doens't work for me either (I install it and all but when I run the application it just runs blank and pops back to the desktop). Anyways thanks for the quick reply and cheers with your great guides!
Hi Glenn,
Thanks for coming up with this guide. It has helped me install and setup Abuse on my Vista.
Problem is, when the game starts, I am asked to click on the darkest grey that I can see. The mouse cursor seems immobile and it appears that the mouse does not work in the Abuse window.
What can I do?
I did everything you said to do but when i go to start the game it says:
the version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computers system information to see if you need an x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit)version of the program, and then contact the software developer. I was wondering if this is because i am using windows 7 that it isn't working
Dont pay Attention to my comment, i got it working thanks!
I am not getting any audio in the game.
Also when I installed dosbox it already had a shortcut on my desktop and I can't make a config file.
HI, thank you for the guide!!!!! Just one problem - I can't figure out how to make the screen bigger... Is there a secret?
